Sometimes life isn't fair

This scene is important because I like to show my characters struggling with everyday challenges that we all do. Even when I put my characters into impossible situations or highly improbable, I always make sure to put that pinch of realism in there to keep things grounded. I like writing about ordinary people, people like you and me, living in their world as they always have, making choices (not always good ones) and living with those choices. Ivy works at a crappy diner where she's not appreciated and harassed daily by the patrons. This is a challenge facing many women just trying to make ends meet. I guess this is my homage to those hard-working women who do what needs to be done, even if it's in less-than-healthy environments.

A Craving

I feel oral sex is far more intimate than actual sex, so when my characters want to TASTE one another, I feel it's far more primal, more intense, than just pumping away. So, when my characters crave each other on a deeper level, that need to taste is always there. Of course, they don't know why they HAVE to know what they feel and taste like, only that it is a driving need. I guess you could say, I'm a huge fan of oral sex and that is why.

Coerced: Blackmailed by the Billionaire

Nobody says no to billionaire Sutton Buchanan. Nobody with a survival instinct or an ounce of common sense, anyway. That’s because he’s a cruel, ruthless bastard who will stop at nothing to get what he wants – including the curvy blonde artist who just gave him the brush-off. Elizabeth Downing is desperate and time is running out. Her one chance at landing an exhibition at the Covington Art Museum has been shot down in flames. The shy, insecure artist can’t give her art away, much less sell it. How was she going to continue supporting her disabled sister, without selling off a kidney? Unfortunately for Elizabeth, her family tragedy is Sutton’s opportunity. Sutton makes Elizabeth a shocking offer that no good man would ever suggest. But Sutton has never pretended to be a good man. Now he’s going to own her — body and soul. He’s going to push past her limits. He’s going to see where her breaking point is. But he won’t make the same mistake his cousins made by falling in love with his plaything. Elizabeth’s about to find out, the words “love” and “mercy” aren’t in Sutton Buchanan’s vocabulary.

Book Bubbles from Coerced: Blackmailed by the Billionaire

Malvagio, the private club owned by the Buchanan family has become a type of character itself, as it pops up in various ways in several books. The plan had been to sell it off but the club adds a certain friction (ha!) that deepens the character development, which I find very useful. For example, in the beginning, the club was owned by Nolan and Vince but bad things had happened to Vince's wife, Emma and her sister Lana, at the club so the intention was to sell but as it turns out, off-loading a private sex club isn't as easy as posting something on a realtor website. But Sutton is quick to argue that the family should hold onto the club for obvious reasons. :-P

Setting the trap

In the first Buchanan book, the motivation for Penny to take the deal offered by the twin Buchanans was different than what motivated Elizabeth. Elizabeth would've never taken the bait if there hadn't been a compelling reason to do so and caring for her disabled sister was just the right push. I love the complexity of human emotion. Elizabeth knows there's no way to pretty up what she's about to do but when desperation sets in...most people will do just about anything to protect the ones they love.
